What Is
Life In Fast Forward?
Welcome to the online home of me, some guy given the name John Cleveland Payne. In the grand scheme of life, I am just another guy with another blog. But to myself, and hopefully to all of you who actually read this, I am something a little more special. From a young age, I fell in love of the idea of ‘the message’ and medium in which you try to transmit.

Basically, everyone has a message to give to the world. Some are basic, some complex, some have the power to up lift and some are just out there to bring as many people down as possible. But everyone has a message, and most people have problems identifying their message. And the ones who get that far can seem to figure out how to get the world to listen.

Well, I have a message, and this is where I will get a chance to share it. Hopefully, you’ll get plenty of things to keep you motivated or inspired, provide knowledge and comfort, and just have a little fun. Apologies for the state of flux and state of seemingly confusing messages that you’ll get here for a while, as I am doing a lot of personal soul searching, and scrubbing of old ideas to take the best of the past to build a new beginning.

In 2007, I changed the name of blog from “The Mis-Adventures Of The Jazzy Cool One” to “Life In Fast Forward.” I began to tear down old blogs and newsletters and try to find places for them here. My goal is to take the focus off of me the person, and show the world the life I live and share with every human on the planet. I aspire to life at a very high standard, and instead of dealing with people who rather slow us down, I want to find ways to help people pick up there own pace. As you get to see an insight to the further adventures I hope to lead, hopefully you’ll enjoy the ride, and want to come along.

Good Afternoon, True Believers!

With the year 2006 about ten hours away, I decided to get to a early start on my annual fresh start exercises. This entailed going through all the projects I started over the last 12 months and trashing those that I know I will never want to complete, putting a little polish on the ones that were/are favorites so that they stay fresh and near the front of my mind (so I can remember to complete them), and putting a short list together of the projects that truly are a few pages away from being completed.

It a good exercise, and I highly recommend it. I also recommend that you, unlike me, find a way to actually trash those projects that I know will never be completed. That seems to be my main problem, but we'll deal with that later . . . maybe . . .

For those of you who, like me, have gotten bored or frustrated with you blog provider's standard templates, here are some websites I've been sifting through for idea and templates for my blogs.

You'll see a change in a couple of days to Cool Corporate dot COM, and hopefully I'll get this blog a new look in a week or two.

Happy New Year folks! Talk to you in 20-oh-6.

In this post from sports blog Deadspin, a bit of commentary on a story from The Cleveland Plain-Dealer on NBA players using fake names at hotels when on the road, and some of the logic behind some of the names. Some use the names of fictional characters, others the real names of other athletes who play in other professional sports.

Some, like Ricky Davis, just switch the letters of there names, and become Dicky Ravis . . .

Parody is a form of flatery, either sincere or insinere, and Malcom Gladwell, author of Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking, can be proud that someone took the time to write a parody of his book. A very funny one, reviewers are saying.

We want to thank Miller Lite for bringing us those funny beer run commercials, the beer run online game, and you chance to have former NFL wide receiver Isaac Curtis be your own personal beer runner--providing ice-cold Miller Lite and a halftime spread of pizza, wings or BBQ--for the Bengals/Lions game on Sunday, December 18th.

More on Dave Chappelle and the mini-me season 3 of 'Chappelle's Show.'

Comedy Central has roughly 75 minutes of sketches completed before the Chappelle walked off the set, and nobody to introduce them and string them together. Their solution? A tribute of sorts . . .

"If Dave does not come back to do his normal intros, the goal is to get Chris Rock, Chris Tucker, Martin Lawrence, the biggest comedians, whatever, to do a wake for the show," says a person familiar with the planning.

Just when you think televisionon exec can't create an even more unrealistic view of their own jobs, one finds a way to do it.

Home-school advocates are reporting an increase in black families opting to educate their children through home schooling, which they say reflects a wider desire among families of all races to provide an alternative to sub-par public school systems, along with preserving cultural heritage and providing a better example of general moral upbringing.

Dave Chappelle walked off the set of his own 'Chappelle's Show,' went to South Africa for a little peace, and then basically said, "Screw you, Comedy Central! I'm still rich, be-otch!"

For good or for ill, Comedy Central is determined to have some laughs, if not the last one. The network powers that be feel they have enough sketch footage to produce a 4-episode Season 3 of 'Chappelle's Show.' There's still no Dave Chapelle to introduce the sketches, and cast members have said that in the past many of the produced sketches turn out unusable, mostly due to being to weird after it is brought from a concept on paper to a finished produce (think 'Greatest Misses' show. Think having have your season consist of 'Greatest Misses . . . ')

Last night, the wife and I went out to see Pride & Prejudice, because she was mad at me and I needed a diversion to get the murderous thoughts out of her mind.

I didn't hate it. That's about all i can say about that.

Tired of reading about poverty, murder, and all things not so nice? Well, cheer up, true believe! There is a home on the internet where all things reported are positive . . . called HappyNews.com.

Seem a little silly? Well, maybe, but it is the internet. They do have real news mixed in with some of the fluff that you would expect from a places that promotes itself as a place for all news positive. Make sure you check out the section on "Heroes."

I haven't watched TV all day, so I'm not sure how long this have been known. Comedian Richard Pryor has died today, shortly after 8am this morning. He was 65.

Words like groundbreaking and trailblazing are often used with Richard Pryor, who entertained millions and influence dozens of comedians and actors. Words like crazy and unstable where use often with Pryor, known for having problems with women and drugs. Many say that it was only his bout with multiple sclerosis, a degenerative disease of the nervous system, that truly, but tragetly slowed the man down.

Richard Pryor will be missed.
