What Is
Life In Fast Forward?
Welcome to the online home of me, some guy given the name John Cleveland Payne. In the grand scheme of life, I am just another guy with another blog. But to myself, and hopefully to all of you who actually read this, I am something a little more special. From a young age, I fell in love of the idea of ‘the message’ and medium in which you try to transmit.

Basically, everyone has a message to give to the world. Some are basic, some complex, some have the power to up lift and some are just out there to bring as many people down as possible. But everyone has a message, and most people have problems identifying their message. And the ones who get that far can seem to figure out how to get the world to listen.

Well, I have a message, and this is where I will get a chance to share it. Hopefully, you’ll get plenty of things to keep you motivated or inspired, provide knowledge and comfort, and just have a little fun. Apologies for the state of flux and state of seemingly confusing messages that you’ll get here for a while, as I am doing a lot of personal soul searching, and scrubbing of old ideas to take the best of the past to build a new beginning.

In 2007, I changed the name of blog from “The Mis-Adventures Of The Jazzy Cool One” to “Life In Fast Forward.” I began to tear down old blogs and newsletters and try to find places for them here. My goal is to take the focus off of me the person, and show the world the life I live and share with every human on the planet. I aspire to life at a very high standard, and instead of dealing with people who rather slow us down, I want to find ways to help people pick up there own pace. As you get to see an insight to the further adventures I hope to lead, hopefully you’ll enjoy the ride, and want to come along.

Online Audio University Now Open For Business
Saturday, March 24, 2007
Announcing the launch of my latest online project, Online Audio University, which I am calling "Your Source For Audio, Video, And Text Files To Help You Expand Your Knowledge Wherever You Are." It's a little lean of links at the moment, but I'll be adding all weekend and I'll work on on the template after I take care of some last minute web work for my actual job at KARN Newsradio.

Shutdown Day?
It's right around 1PM, and I just found out about World Shutdown Day, a way to bring awareness and raise money for the National Laptop Foundation, a new non-profit organisation launching on World Earth Day with plans to help underprivileged children, the elderly and schools and doctors in third world countries have access to the Internet. And of course, get workaholics like me to just get off my duff and spend time with actual humans.

I guess I did okay, considering I didn't log onto the net until around 1PM, and had no idea it was going on.

Thanks to the guys at one of my favor blogs, Black Belt Productivity, for giving me the heads up...even if I was a little late to the party.

Negative People In The Workplace
Wednesday, March 07, 2007
Michael Wade at Execupundit.com has a brilliant blog post that borders on genius (but as he points out should be common sense) on the effect of negative people in your workplace.

This reminded me of an article titles "Rotten to the core: How workplace 'bad apples' spoil barrels of good employees," which explains doctoral student William Felps research at the University of Washington's Business School on 'bad apples' at work, based on a comment his wife made about how the atmosphere at her workplace changed for the better when a negative person was away from the office for a significant amount of time, and she never connected how much of a drain the person was. (an audio interview with Will from the the news program I produce is available here).

What should be an obvious truth is that other people have a direct effect on you. Negative or positive, the attitudes and actions of those around you drive you to a certain extent. Especially in the workplace, where you can't always just cut ties with negative people on your own initiative, keep an eye on the effect of that guy or gal that drags in the rain clouds every time they walk into a room.

Rob Lowe vs Chad Lowe As TV Politicos
As an frantic cry for help attempt to actually spend time together, my wife has taken on the task of watching 4 of the current seven dedicated hours of television I watch a week: 24, Lost, Monk, and Psych (the other 3 being a hour of WWE's Raw, an hour of WWE Smackdown, and Battlestar Galatica...and sporting event on top of that is considered gravy). Sunday nights, she locks herself in the bedroom as to no be disturbed during Desperate Housewives and Thirtysomthing 2: Electirc Buggaloo Brother & Sisters. The fabulous Lowe Brothers, Chad & Rob play to very different Washington DC political figures with very different agendas.

Chad plays an aide to the Secretary of State who is a part of a plot to assassinate the President...who's brother, a former President, was assassinated last season. Rob plays a US Senator who for some reason is attaching himself to Calsita Flockhart and her nutty family. Monday night, after Chad's character gets arrested on charges of treason, I asked myself the same question I saw in today's TV Squad blog by Meredith O'Brien: which Lowe gets the better TV role?
