What Is
Life In Fast Forward?
Welcome to the online home of me, some guy given the name John Cleveland Payne. In the grand scheme of life, I am just another guy with another blog. But to myself, and hopefully to all of you who actually read this, I am something a little more special. From a young age, I fell in love of the idea of ‘the message’ and medium in which you try to transmit.

Basically, everyone has a message to give to the world. Some are basic, some complex, some have the power to up lift and some are just out there to bring as many people down as possible. But everyone has a message, and most people have problems identifying their message. And the ones who get that far can seem to figure out how to get the world to listen.

Well, I have a message, and this is where I will get a chance to share it. Hopefully, you’ll get plenty of things to keep you motivated or inspired, provide knowledge and comfort, and just have a little fun. Apologies for the state of flux and state of seemingly confusing messages that you’ll get here for a while, as I am doing a lot of personal soul searching, and scrubbing of old ideas to take the best of the past to build a new beginning.

In 2007, I changed the name of blog from “The Mis-Adventures Of The Jazzy Cool One” to “Life In Fast Forward.” I began to tear down old blogs and newsletters and try to find places for them here. My goal is to take the focus off of me the person, and show the world the life I live and share with every human on the planet. I aspire to life at a very high standard, and instead of dealing with people who rather slow us down, I want to find ways to help people pick up there own pace. As you get to see an insight to the further adventures I hope to lead, hopefully you’ll enjoy the ride, and want to come along.

Yes, We Have No Good Football Players
Thursday, January 04, 2007
Sometimes I wonder if i am a little to cerebral in what catches my attention and what I regularly read. One of my favorite blogs happens to be The Sports Law Professor, because I am a fan of sports and interested in law, and seeing the breakdowns by blogger Jeffrey Standen, while most of my sports fan friends would call dull or obsessive, I find facinating.

A post this morning brought up what might be interesting trivia and definitely a interesting question. A commentator during the Gator Bowl mentioned casually the West Virginia University Mountaineers football team has not one single player on its roster who is actually from West Virginia. Jeffrey give a rundown on whether, based on the fact that West Virginia University is a state school, this is a good thing for fans, taxpayers, and the players themselves.

Keeping Up With EVERYTHING Will Tell You Something About Yourself
Monday, January 01, 2007
I am back in the blogging business (hopefully for a long & consistant time).

As part of my attempt to keep up with all my activities to make time for work (the kind that pays the bills), work (the kind that is supposed to make me a millionare some day...maybe), health, exercise, family, and maybe even some fun, I have prefected my daily log I have kept on and off here and there for years. By prefected, I really mean turn it into a nightmare of information, where I literally track everything that happens in a day that doesn't involve bodily fluids. Every meal, every step, every "this will only take a minute" task. The point is to get a true representation of how my time is spent, to hopefully maximize the free portions of that time.

What I am learning, as I susspeced, is that I am just extremely over booked, and contantly overextending myself with the "this will only take a minute" tasks.

An interesting solution to this problem was presented in the article The Perfect Human (Wired News - Dec 25, 2006) interviewing Dean Karnazes, the ultramarthoner we interview on KARN. Listed as Number 5 in his secrets to sucess: CUT BACK ON SLEEP. An explaination...

Karnazes has a wife and two kids, and he worked a 9-to-5 job for the first eight
years of his quest to transcend his own limits. Finding four hours for a
30-mile run during the day was next to impossible. The solution: sleep less.

Sounds simple enough...except I am often up until midnight already, and the alarm goes off at 3AM...
